Selection:
Officers are selected based
on their physical and mental fitness, work ethic, job experience, and
their ability to adapt to stressful situations. All are expected to
maintain a high degree of physical fitness, and must pass quarterly
physical fitness standards. Each team member is also expected to develop
comprehensive leadership ability and above average weapons skill.
Training:
All members train a minimum
of one day per month in areas such as building entries, raid planning,
advanced weapons qualification, less than lethal munitions, crowd
control/move techniques, self defense/disarming maneuvers, and first
responder hostage/crisis negotiation.
Goal
To provide immediate support
to line personnel in crisis encounters and emergency planning/organizing
in response to high risk warrant service/building entries, barricaded
subjects, armed encounters, violent disturbances, and all other threats to
public safety.
