| RULES FOR ALL RENEWAL AND NEW PERMITS |
|

There is a 90-Day Grace period following the expiration of your permit. This law was put into effect on September 14th 2004.

- You must be a resident of the Town of Bridgewater or own a business in this town to apply for a License to Carry through this department. Proof of residency will be required. (Drivers License or Voters registration card)
- Fill out the complete application. Please print clearly or type.
- Make sure your old permit number is on the application and give the reason your old permit was issued and from what department. Attach a copy of the front and back of the old permit to this application.
- All new applicants for Class A or Class B or C permits must complete a Firearms Safety Course or Hunters Safety Course. Please provide a copy of the Course Certification.
- If you had a valid FID Card on June 1st 1998, you do not need to take a Firearms Safety Course or Hunters Safety Course. You must read and sign a form that states you have been given the information on the changes in the law regarding FID’s. This will be provided to you the day you come in to get fingerprinted and photographed.
- Restricted FID’s (Class D) for mace/pepper spray - no certification required. $ 25.00 fee for first issues and no charge for renewal.
- Please call for an appointment with Sgt. Irving, or check our website for other instructions.
Do Not Drop Off Your Application – “your” signature, fingerprints, photograph (taken by web camera), and payment, are all needed before any paperwork is put through to the state.
- You will need to bring with you the completed forms, $100.00 cash, check or money order (made out to the Town of Bridgewater), and a self-addressed stamped post card.
- Applicants over the age of 70 are exempt from the fee.

- If your application is for a Class A permit you must attach a letter to the Chief of Police stating the reason(s) you feel this permit is necessary ******this is for 1st issues only.
Processing of permits is taking up to four weeks. Please try to come in one or two months before the expiration date if possible.
- You will be notified by mail or e-mail (if provided) when your permit is ready to be picked up. You must pick up your permit in person.
- If your permit is lost or stolen you will have to repeat all of the above. There is no fee to replace the permit.
- Please make sure to sign and date the 209A and Use of Deadly Force Form.
- If naturalized please provide a copy of your paperwork with the date, place and naturalization number.
