 Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a citizen's involvement program, where citizens, in cooperation with the Bridgewater Police, directly participate in the detection and prevention of crime.  Other names for Neighborhood Watch include:  "Citizen's Crime Watch"; "Home Alert"; or "Block Watch".  Whatever the group's name is, it all flows from the same basic concept of citizens watching their community!

Citizen's involved in Neighborhood Watch are trained in how to recognize suspicious or criminal activities and report these activities to their police department.  These Neighborhood Watch citizens keep well informed about their neighborhood and of any suspicious, criminal or dangerous activities that may be occurring.  In short, Neighborhood Watch citizens provide valuable information to the Bridgewater Police, which helps in the investigate suspicious activities, apprehend criminals and prevent crime.

If you are interested in starting a Neighborhood Watch Program in your neighborhood call the Bridgewater Police at 508.697.6118 or click here to send an e-mail request.

Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy is an eleven-week program that teaches citizens of Bridgewater what it is like to be a Police Officer.  One night a week the class meets and discusses a different topic each week.  Many of these discussions include demonstrations and written material for the Citizen.  The instructors are all Bridgewater Police Officers.

This program is not intended to train participants to perform law enforcement duties, but rather create better-informed citizens and develop a working relationship with the community to solve problems within the Town.
